Where iBeekeeper runs

iBeekeeper UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Lessingstraße 4, 15345 Altlandsberg, Germany, operates iBeekeeper on infrastructure rented from OVH GmbH, Cologne. The contracting party is OVH GmbH, a company of the French OVHcloud group.

For support and maintenance, OVHcloud may also access the systems from Canada and the United Kingdom; for both states, the European Commission has determined an adequate level of data protection. Only photos that you release for the Knowledge Base, without location, time of capture and device identifier, and public texts without personal data are sent to Anthropic; your beekeeping data are never sent there.

Protection against unlawful governmental access

Your beekeeping data are stored exclusively in data centres in the European Union. All connections are encrypted using TLS, and only we have access to the servers via personal keys. Our contracts with OVHcloud and Anthropic oblige the providers to process data only on our instructions and to inform us of requests from authorities, insofar as this is legally permitted. If an authority of a state outside the EU requests access to data, we only hand them over if there is a legal basis under the law of the European Union or of Germany. We examine every such request, limit the disclosure to what is strictly necessary and inform you, insofar as this is permitted.

Exporting your data

You can export all your data at any time in every package free of charge: in the web application under Settings, Data export. The export is a ZIP file. It contains one file per area in JSON format (UTF-8) and the original files of your photos, voice notes, documents and receipts. In addition, there are exports of individual areas in CSV format and the documented interface at https://webapp.ibeekeeper.de/api/docs/.

Included are: colonies including empty weight, groups, apiaries with coordinates and the assignment of colonies to apiaries, hive cards and forms, treatments, feedings, harvests, weighings, varroa counts, diseases, ratings, queen breeding, tasks, storage, photos, voice notes and their transcripts, documents, sensors and hive scales with their measured values, cash book with receipts, outgoing invoices, supplier invoices and our invoices to you.

Not included are only data that serve solely internal operation and contain no content from you: access data and password verification values, session and device identifiers, technical logs, caches and calculated values for cost and usage limits.

Switching to another provider

You can request at any time by e-mail to service@ibeekeeper.de to switch to another provider or to your own systems or to have your data deleted. The request is deemed to be a cancellation with a notice period of no more than two months. This is followed by a transitional period of no more than 30 days during which iBeekeeper continues to run to the previous extent and we support you in switching; you can extend it once. After the end of the contract, you can still retrieve your data for at least 30 days; thereafter we delete them completely, unless there is a statutory retention obligation. Details are set out in Section 9.9 of our T&Cs.

Costs

We do not charge anything for export, switching and deletion. If you cancel for the purpose of switching during the term of a paid package, the contract ends after no more than two months, but at the latest at the end of the term; the remuneration paid in advance is not refunded pro rata (Section 9.6 of the T&Cs). Paid packages do not renew automatically.

Known limitations

Another provider must transfer the data from the export into its own format; iBeekeeper cannot guarantee that it knows all fields. Settings and shares with other users as well as public links cannot be transferred because they only have meaning within iBeekeeper.

A public register of data formats as provided for by the European Commission under the Data Act does not yet exist. The fields of the export are documented in the interface description.
