Edlinger's Varroa Indicator

Calculate the varroa mites in your colony

The number of varroa mites in a colony is a very important factor when it comes to the health and survival of a colony. With the new Edlinger Varroa Indicator, the number of varroa mites lying on the bottom board can be extrapolated, giving a better picture of the current situation.

The name of the indicator, "Edlinger's Varroa Indicator", is derived from the developer of the indicator. Its development took place over a period of 5 years, during which many thousands of brood cells had to be opened and the varroa infestation counted.

All that matters is the day on which the mites on the bottom board were counted, how long ago the last check was and, related to this, the cleaning of the board and the number of varroa mites found. The indicator then calculates the approximate number of varroa mites in the colony, how many could be successfully controlled in a broodless colony and how many in a colony with brood.

On which day did you see how many varroa mites on the bottom board and over what period did they drop?
