The Sunflower flowers from July to September and provides plentiful nectar and plentiful, strongly yellow pollen. It is one of the most important late-summer flows and helps with the build-up of winter bees. Its honey is egg-yolk yellow to yellow-brown, robust, slightly sour and slightly resinous in aroma, and crystallises quickly into a fine-grained, creamy consistency. Because the area grown in Germany is small, German sunflower honey is rare.
