Crimson Clover flowers in May and June in strong red heads and offers plenty of nectar and pollen. It is grown as a green manure and forage crop and then produces a good interim flow. Its tubular flowers are shorter than those of red clover, which is why the honeybee prefers to visit it. Clover honey is light, mild and flowery and crystallises firm and creamy.
