The Rowan flowers in May and June in white umbel-like panicles and provides nectar and pollen in the moderate to medium range. As a roadside and woodland tree it is widespread and valuable to many insects. Its flower scent is pungent, which some beekeepers see as a downside, though it does not bother the bees. As bee forage it is a useful addition in late spring, but not a supporting flow.
