Wild Garlic (Ramsons) flowers in May in white umbels and provides a very good pollen value; the nectar value is good in bright spots and only moderate in dense shade. It grows in riparian and damp deciduous woodland on seepage-moist, nutrient-rich, humus-rich clay and loam soils. Because it forms large carpets, it supplies plenty of protein in woodland-adjacent sites right at the time of strongest brood build-up. The yield depends heavily on how much light falls on the stands.
