The Sugar Maple flowers in April before the leaves appear and, like the other maple species, provides nectar and pollen; it counts as a spring build-up flow. In Central Europe it is not a native tree but stands only as planted specimens in parks and arboretums, so no major flow results from it. It is better known for its sap, from which maple syrup is made.
