Hairy vetch flowers from June to August with dense, blue-violet flower racemes and climbs over everything nearby. It is sown as green manure and in catch crop mixtures and is winter-hardy. It flowers profusely and yields nectar well, so that it provides a considerable summer forage on green manure fields.
