Winter Aconite
Eranthis hyemalis
- Blütezeit
- February–March
- Nektar
- mäßig
- Pollen
- gut
Winter Aconite flowers in February and March, often still in snow, opening its yellow flowers even at just a few degrees above freezing. The nectar value is moderate, the pollen value good, so it is above all an early protein source for the first brood build-up. It grows under woody plants, in parks and lawns on fresh, nutrient- and base-rich, humus-rich loam soils. In larger stands it is densely worked by bees on sunny winter days.
