Wild Teasel flowers in July and August, with the ring of flowers slowly moving up and down the head over time, providing a steady supply for weeks. The nectar value is good, the pollen value moderate. It needs fresh to damp, nutrient- and base-rich, often calcareous clay and loam soils and stands along roadsides, embankments and on fallow ground. Because of its deep flower tubes it is especially favoured by bumblebees and long-tongued bees.
