Field Scabious flowers from June to August on poor meadows, roadside verges and embankments. The nectar value is good, the pollen value low. It needs moderately dry, base-rich sites and disappears from heavily fertilised, early-mown meadows. Besides the honeybee, it is the lifeline of specialised wild bees, which matters for site management.
