Common hogweed blooms from June into October; its nectar sits openly in flat umbels and is rated abundant, while it yields little pollen. After the first cut it sprouts again and blooms a second time, which makes it valuable late in the year on meadow sites. Not to be confused with giant hogweed, whose sap causes severe burns on the skin.
