Chicory
Cichorium intybus
- Blütezeit
- July–September
- Nektar
- gut
- Pollen
- mittel
Chicory flowers from July to September but opens its pale blue heads only in the morning, closing them again by midday. A good nectar value and a medium to good pollen value make it a useful midsummer flow. It grows on fresh to moderately dry, nitrogen-rich loam soils along roadsides, embankments and fallow ground. For practice the short opening time means foraging is concentrated in the morning hours.
