Old Man's Beard (Traveller's Joy) flowers from June to September, covering shrubs, tree trunks and walls with white carpets of flowers as it does. Both nectar and pollen value are rated moderate. It needs fresh, nutrient- and base-rich, clayey loam soils and grows on forest margins, hedges and in floodplains. Its advantage is the sheer mass of flowers, which still adds up even at a moderate individual value.
