Thymus vulgaris

Common Thyme flowers from June to August and reaches a very high nectar value with a low pollen value. It needs full sun and dry, well-drained, calcareous soils and is still visited even after flowering, as long as further flushes appear. In Mediterranean sites it produces an aromatic varietal honey; in Central Europe it usually remains a secondary flow. As a bed plant at the apiary it is worthwhile nonetheless because of its pronounced nectar flow.
