Large-leaved Lime (Summer Lime)

Tilia platyphyllos

Flowering period

Large-leaved linden flowers in June, about two weeks before small-leaved linden, and yields very abundant nectar; its pollen supply, by contrast, is low. Its honey is white to greenish white and smells strongly of mint, which is due to the high content of essential oils. It is common in avenues, parks, and villages and then provides a productive urban nectar flow. British measurements give around 96,680 pollen grains per flower.
