The Silver Lime flowers last among the limes, in July, once the small-leaved and large-leaved lime are finished. Its nectar value is rated good, while it provides hardly any pollen. Under flowering silver limes, dead bumblebees are regularly found; the trees keep scenting the air even though the nectar is already exhausted, and the insects keep visiting the empty flowers anyway. The cause is considered to be food scarcity at the end of the bloom, not a toxin in the flower.
