Serradella flowers from June to August and provides nectar and pollen in the medium range. Its pea-family flowers have a tripping mechanism and are typically pollinated by hymenopterans. It grows on sandy, low-lime soils where other forage plants fail and serves as a forage crop, green manure and catch crop. Because it is now grown only rarely in Germany, today it yields at most a secondary flow.
