Winter Heath, also called spring heath, flowers depending on location from February to April and thus often ahead of hazel. Its nectar value is very good, the pollen value moderate to medium, so it is above all an energy source for the first flying days. In gardens, on gravel areas and near the Alps it forms extensive cushions that are heavily worked in sunshine. As a planting at the apiary it is one of the few reliable early-spring flows.
