Black Locust (False Acacia)

Robinia pseudoacacia

Blütezeit
May–June
Nektar
sehr gut
Pollen

The Black Locust (False Acacia), usually sold as "acacia", flowers from mid-May to the end of June in hanging white racemes and pours out very abundant nectar; its pollen supply, on the other hand, is only moderate. Its honey is water-clear to pale yellow, delicate and very sweet, and stays liquid because of its high fructose content, which makes it especially sought after. It bridges the gap between rapeseed and dandelion and the start of the lime bloom. Where black locust stands occur, migrating hives there is worthwhile.
