The Lingonberry (Cowberry) flowers from late May into midsummer in small bell-shaped flowers. Its nectar supply is rated high, while it provides hardly any pollen. The flower corolla is only five to six millimetres long, so it is well accessible to the honeybee. It needs humus-rich, acidic soils and cannot tolerate lime, which is why it stands on heath, moorland and woodland sites. For fruit formation it depends on honeybees and wild bees.
