Viper's Bugloss flowers from June to August and still provides nectar even in heat and drought, when other plants have long dried up. The nectar value is good, the pollen value low to medium, and the blue pollen is easy to spot on the pollen loads. It grows on summer-warm, poor, stony to sandy soils along roadsides, on railway land and fallow ground. Worth noting: honey and pollen can contain pyrrolizidine alkaloids.
