The Globe Thistle flowers in July and August, opening its globular flower heads gradually over several weeks. The nectar value is good, the pollen value moderate to medium. It is notably drought-tolerant and stands in perennial beds and on poor, sunny areas. Because it produces exactly in midsummer, it is one of the best perennials against the July forage gap.
