The Cornelian Cherry flowers from February to April, long before leaves appear, in small yellow umbels. It provides plentiful nectar and moderate pollen at a time when hardly anything else is in bloom. It is widespread and easy to maintain in hedges and parks. For the early-spring build-up flow it is one of the most valuable woody plants for the garden.
