The Cherry Plum flowers as early as March and April, ahead of blackthorn and cultivated plum. It provides both nectar and pollen well, making it one of the most valuable early flowering fruit-tree flows. It is undemanding, often stands as a purple-leaved form in gardens and street plantings, and flowers abundantly even as a young tree. For beekeeping it is a classic build-up flow that strongly boosts brood build-up.
