The Currant flowers in April and May and provides moderate nectar and little pollen in early spring. It depends on insect visits: poorly pollinated clusters remain patchy. In gardens and plantations this mutual relationship therefore pays off for both sides. The blackcurrant is rated somewhat better here than the redcurrant.
