Common Bird's-foot Trefoil flowers from mid-May to September and provides plentiful nectar over a long period, while its pollen supply is low. It prefers calcareous loam soils and grows on poor meadows, roadsides and embankments, coping well even with drought. Because it flowers on for months, it bridges the summer gap. In flower mixes it is a reliable component.
