Shepherd's Purse flowers on arable land, rubble sites and in paving cracks almost all year round, in mild locations from February onward. Ratings diverge: Hortipendium lists nectar and pollen as a rich supply, while the NaturaDB rates both only as moderate. Any single plant provides little in any case, because the flowers are tiny. The value lies in the duration: on open ground it stands continuously, even when nothing else is in bloom between two flows.
