Cucumber
Cucumis sativus

The Cucumber flowers from June to August and provides good nectar with a medium pollen value. It depends on insect pollination; without bee visits the fruit stays small and crooked. Male and female flowers sit separately on the same plant, so the bees must move back and forth between the two. For beekeepers with a vegetable garden or pollination colonies in the field, it is a welcome summer addition.
