Greater Stitchwort flowers from April to June on forest margins, in hedges and along roadside verges. The nectar value is good, the pollen value medium. It grows on fresh, moderately nutrient-rich soils in partial shade and forms loose, widely spread stands. For the apiary it is an unassuming but reliable spring trickle flow between the fruit bloom and early summer.
