Greater stitchwort flowers from April to June on woodland edges, in hedges, and along verges. The nectar value is good, the pollen value medium. It grows on fresh, moderately nutrient-rich soils in partial shade and forms loose, widely spread stands. For the apiary it is an inconspicuous but reliable spring trickle flow between the fruit blossom and early summer. British measurements give around 6 micrograms of sugar per flower per day, around 15,190 pollen grains per flower and a nectar yield of around 0 kilograms of sugar per hectare per year.
