Lungwort flowers from March to May, changing flower colour from red to blue as it does, which signals the pollination status to the bees. Both nectar and pollen value lie in the moderate to medium range. It grows in partial shade under woody plants on fresh, humus-rich soils. For the apiary it is a typical early-spring flow that attracts mainly bumblebees and long-tongued bees.
