The Wild Service Tree flowers in May and June in white umbel-like panicles and provides good nectar with a medium pollen value. It grows on warm, calcareous sites in open deciduous woodland and on forest margins and is rather scattered across Central Europe. Where it stands in greater numbers, it noticeably supplements the early-summer flow. As tree of the year and valuable wild fruit it is increasingly being planted again, which benefits bee forage.
