Common Scurvygrass flowers from April to June with white cruciform flowers on coasts, salt marshes and damp ditches. Its spoon-shaped leaves are rich in vitamin C and used to be eaten on ships to prevent scurvy. The small flowers are openly accessible and are readily taken up in spring.
