The Cup Plant flowers from July to September with yellow heads and is grown in the field as a perennial energy crop. The nectar value is good, the pollen value moderate to medium. It stays on the same plot for several years, flowering afresh each year without the soil needing to be worked. As an alternative to maize it is interesting to beekeepers because it provides forage over a large area in late summer.
