Common Comfrey flowers from May to July in hanging little bells and provides good nectar with only a low pollen value. It needs groundwater-fed or seepage-moist, nutrient- and base-rich soils and stands along ditches, stream banks and damp meadows. Honeybees often only reach the nectar through holes bitten at the base of the flower by bumblebees. Where it grows in stands, it is a good addition in early summer.
