The Columbine flowers from May to July and offers good nectar with a moderate pollen value. The nectar sits deep in the spurred flowers, which is why honeybees frequently use the holes bitten into the spur by bumblebees. It grows in partial shade on fresh, humus-rich soils and reliably self-seeds in gardens. On the apiary site it is a pretty early-summer addition, but not a supporting flow.
