Finding eggs is the fastest proof of a laying queen, without having to search for her directly. Their position also reveals their age: on the first day they stand upright, on the second they lean over, on the third they lie almost flat on the cell floor. This makes it possible to determine the last day of laying.
To see them, light from behind over the shoulder into the cell helps. Several eggs per cell point to laying workers.
