Cow parsley flowers from April to June and turns entire roadsides and meadow edges white in May. It is the most common umbellifer of spring and comes exactly between fruit blossom and oilseed rape. The flat umbels are openly accessible and provide mainly pollen, plus some nectar. On grassland sites it is a mainstay May forage. British measurements give around 11 micrograms of sugar per flower per day, around 9,744 pollen grains per flower and a nectar yield of around 151 kilograms of sugar per hectare per year.
