Moldavian dragonhead flowers from July to September with blue-violet labiate flowers and smells of lemon balm. It is annual, is grown specifically as bee forage and for essential oil and comes from Central Asia. It is regarded as one of the most productive forage plants of all and yields exactly when nothing is flowering in the fields any more.
