Bearberry cotoneaster flowers in May and June with small white flowers and forms flat, evergreen carpets on banks and in beds. Like all cotoneasters it provides plentiful nectar, although the flowers hardly open. Because it is planted over large areas, a considerable amount adds up in built-up areas. British measurements give around 400 micrograms of sugar per flower per day.
