Bladder campion flowers from May to August with white flowers above the strikingly inflated, net-veined calyx. It grows along paths, on poor grassland and on gravel. The flowers open in the evening and are then fragrant; they are meant for moths. Honeybees collect the nectar in the early morning while it is still there. British measurements give around 251 micrograms of sugar per flower per day and around 9,710 pollen grains per flower.
