Tartary buckwheat flowers from July to September with inconspicuous greenish flowers. It comes from Central Asia, is more cold-tolerant and less demanding than common buckwheat and is sown in catch crop mixtures. It yields less nectar than its relative, but in return flowers soon after sowing and late in the year.
