The Tatar maple flowers in May and June and thus considerably later than the native maples. It remains a large shrub or small tree and is often planted in hedges and roadside greenery. The upright white inflorescences are fragrant and well visited. For the apiary it is a welcome bridge between maple and lime blossom.
