The poached egg plant flowers from May to July with white, yellow-centred cup-shaped flowers that are reminiscent of a fried egg. It comes from California, is annual and self-seeds readily. The flat, open flowers yield nectar and pollen well and are among the most productive summer flowers for bees in the bed. British measurements give around 232 micrograms of sugar per flower per day.
