The hollyhock flowers from June to September with large funnel-shaped flowers on stems up to three metres tall and belongs by every cottage garden wall. Single-flowered varieties provide a great deal of coarse, white pollen, which the bees carry home as thick pollen loads. Double varieties, on the other hand, are worthless because the stamens have been transformed into petals.
