The stinking hellebore flowers from February to April with hanging, green bell-shaped flowers edged with red. It grows in open beech woods on limestone and is found in many shade beds. Its flowers last for weeks and provide nectar and pollen in the coldest time of the year, as soon as the bees can fly.
