The black cherry flowers in May and June, that is, after the native bird cherry. It comes from North America, was planted in pine forests and spreads strongly there. Its upright white flower racemes are busily visited. On poor sandy soils it is often the most productive forage in late spring, however undesirable it may be from a forestry point of view.
