Garden cosmos flowers from July into October with large white, pink or purple flower heads above finely pinnate foliage. It is annual and belongs in many cottage gardens and flower strips. Single-flowered varieties give nectar and plenty of pollen and flower until the first frost; double varieties are worthless for bees.
