Sweet pepperbush flowers in July and August with upright, strongly scented white flower spikes. It comes from North America, needs acid, moist soil and is planted in peat beds and rhododendron gardens. It flowers exactly in the summer gap and is then continuously visited. Where it grows in groups, it is a genuine late forage.
