Herb Robert flowers from May to October and provides moderate nectar with moderate pollen value. It is annual to biennial and grows on walls, in hedges, on rubble and in shady gardens. When crushed it smells rank, hence its second name, stinking crane's-bill. Because of its long flowering period it is a steady supplementary forage in partial shade. British measurements give around 98 micrograms of sugar per flower per day, around 2,484 pollen grains per flower and a nectar yield of around 12 kilograms of sugar per hectare per year.
